Ashley Ordway, LMHC

Ashley Ordway, M.Ed, Ed.S, LMHC, is the founder and co-owner of Magnolia Behavioral Health. An experienced and dedicated licensed mental health counselor with over 9 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health field, Ashley earned her Masters of Education and Education Specialist degrees from the University of Florida’s nationally recognized Counselor Education program in 2016. She majored in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Florida during her M.Ed/Ed.S. program where she built her foundation in clinical therapeutic techniques and relational development.

Ashley is a strong proponent of evidence-based practice and deeply believes in the value of empirically supported research driving her therapeutic work. Ashley sought out practical clinical training experiences focused on evidence-based practices for treating anxiety, depression, and mood disorders at UF Health’s Division of Psychology during her graduate studies. Ashley also completed her registered internship at the College of Medicines UF Health Division of Psychology where she developed a specialization in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Anxiety, and related disorders across the lifespan such as social anxiety, separation anxiety, specific phobias, hoarding, hair pulling and skin picking.

During her clinical education, Ashley received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Exposure Response Prevention (CBT with /E/RP), which became her primary clinical focus and interest area.  Ashley was drawn to this work as OCD and Anxiety are often misunderstood, but through her training, Ashley saw that these conditions are often very treatable with evidence-based care. Ashley wanted to empower others to learn the tools and techniques that could help them overcome their OCD and anxious symptoms and improve their quality of life. She also developed expertise in addressing challenging behavioral concerns in young children through parent management training techniques in her training. She is a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy clinician recognized by Parent Child Interaction Therapy International, Inc.

Following her registered internship, Ashley joined the UF Health team as a clinician and clinical supervisor for graduate mental health trainees in psychology, counselor education, and psychiatry residents and fellows in 2018. As the first counselor education supervisor at UF Health within the Division of Psychology Ashley increased access opportunities for other counselor education students to learn about evidence-based treatment of OCD and anxiety. Ashley’s work at UF Health was foundational in developing the University of Florida’s Fear Facers Camp, one of the first in the nation, which provides treatment to children ages 7- 15 with OCD and was featured in the New York Times Conquering More Than the Usual Worries at Summer Camp - The New York Times (nytimes.com). Ashley served as clinical director of Fear Facers from 2017 to 2023. Ashley is a proud member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and is a regular presenter at IOCDF conferences where she shares her work with fellow clinicians and patients’ families. Her research on OCD and related disorders has been published in national peer-reviewed journals.

In addition to building her private practice at Magnolia Behavioral Health, Ashley serves as a board member on Jack Mental Health, a non profit organization focused on increasing awareness and access to care for people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She is currently working with Jack Mental Health and the IOCDF to launch "Plant A Camp", a program focused on supporting organizations as they launch camps for kids with OCD across the nation. Ashley has ample experience working across settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and outpatient hospital-based practice as well as her own private practice at Magnolia Behavioral Health. A passionate advocate for children and families, Ashley cares deeply about increasing access to care and bridging the gap between clinical practice and research.

Ashley is a native Floridian, and loves spending time hiking, going to the beach, and with her family (including her two dogs).
